How to Make Mother’s Day with something unique

All mothers are “the best” but not all mothers are the same and nor do they have the same likes or interests. That is why it is essential to choose a Mother’s Day present for your special mum that is as unique as she is, according to QWERKITY’S founder, Jane Hudson who is, herself, a mother and now, a glamorous granny.

Over the years Jane has honed her talent for spotting unique, original, fun and good value gifts and, each year, together with her buying team, she trawls the globe in search of those perfect presents for all kinds of people so, when it comes to special occasions like Mother’s Day you need look no further for that special something that says “you’re the best, mum”.

So how do you decide from a plethora of present choices what to give? Here Jane gives her advice for selecting the special gift that is a real treat, something she wouldn’t necessarily think to buy for herself.

Jane’s top-tips for choosing the perfect gift for the best mum in the world - yours:

  1. Decide how much you want to spend – the best gifts are not always the most expensive but rather the most inventive.

  2. What sort of mum are you buying for? Is she serious, fun loving, quirky or traditional? Is she a hard worker who would appreciate time out with the family or someone who would treasure a little timeout for herself? This will help you narrow down the right type of gift

  3. Look for a link with something you know that she likes: is she sporty or horsey perhaps? Does she enjoy gardening, travelling, listening to music or walking? Does she have a penchant for entertaining?

  4. Look for a gift that is unusual, practical and fun – then you’ll give your gift safe in the knowledge that not only is she going to like it but it will also be used and appreciated. But beware of buying something that is just practical – mums like to be made to feel special and that their hard work and commitment through the year is appreciated.

  5. Chat through your options with a brother, sister, aunt or father for inspiration and to avoid an unfortunate clash.
